When the waters penetrated to the hearts
and softeneed the enough for love, you pur out
the mass and inhale the steam, say ahhh and dip
your spoon into the honey jar and place
the sun in the center of this universe
and around the coasts you pour the cloudy mlilk
and wait for it to cool that first bite.
Goodness fills your mouth as the measured
simmered mass slide--yeielding--inside you
and you tremble and begin to savor each grain.
(from "Making Porridge" by George Venn)
Ironically, today is the only day I haven't eaten oatemal, but today's the day I read your verse, Mr. Venn. And a wonderful muse for my morning foods it is! So, so wonderful. The poem and the oats, that is.
Near a half-day I slept last night. Twelve hours. I've realized, like with food, I still need to give my body a no-holds-barred time (for at least a couple days) to recover all the sleep I've deprived it of. My writing is exceptionally better when my body is rested, I'll tell you that, son!
Anyways, shall we talk about Noah?

"A very clever attempt at undermining the faith of potentially millions of viewers by performing a massive misdirect." Tantumblogo
"An experiment to make fools of us". (Dr. Brian Mattson)
"How subtly [Aronofsky's humanistic beliefs] masquarade as profound religion and science in our age, decieving many." (Dr. Joel McDurmon)
"One of the greatest bait-and-switches in history." (John Nolte)
"Just another step in the massive ongoing propaganda campaign to convince the world that the creator God of the Bible is evil." (Breaking Deception)
Yup. Aronofsky and Handle are, according to these and probably more I haven't found, evil, dubious Athiests out to decieve and convert the innocent faithful away from the Truth. Their film, instead of the self-professed reconstruction of the Biblical Noah story with the holes filled in with (admittedly) Kabbala ideologies and themes, is rather a hodge-podge of evangalistic humanist, gnostic, and kabbala subversions purposed to decieve, confuse, and mislead.
Where does this come from? I would say two places; namely, two verses.
Where does this come from? I would say two places; namely, two verses.
"Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent a sdoves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kigns for my skae, to bear witness before them and the gentles...And you will be hated by all fo rmy name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved." Matthew 10:16-22
"And Jesus said to him, "I am th way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
These two verses, so forefronted in the American evangelical mindset, have created the world-oppressed, doctrine-centered self-ideology which sees itself as the object of persecution and violence of the secular world. The famous Johannine verse has, among other things, succeeded in removing any possibility of either abstraction or alternative concretization of the themes contained in Bible stories. The only story which can, to an evangelical, speak the message of grace, mercy, and Love are those of the Bible, as they're written in the Bible. Any story which incorporates any "hostile" ideologies or philosophies but nevertheless speaks to the same overall themes is regardless heretical. At the root of this is a deep-seated fear of losing treasured stories in the pluralistic culture in which we live. Then, if this fear of abstraction is not enough to make evangelicals overly hostile and paranoid toward non-Biblical art, the verses of Jesus' famous Matthew 10 discourse--because of the exegetical method through which Evangelicals interpret the Bible (e.g., as every word speaking to the reader here, now, and today, literally)--have instilled evangelicals everywhere with a further paranoia of secularists and other-world-religions as wolves among sheep, each ready to destroy and kill those innocent and ignorant of the ways of the world. This explains the vehemence with which the Evangelical community has attacked Aronofsky and his partner for their alteration of the story and inclusion of other sources.
American conservative Evangelicalism is losing control. Loss of control breeds fear, fear heightened by particular readings of verses as warning of end-time persecutions (end times which, as history tells us, is always today) and deceptions, causing a backlash at anything foreign and unknown to the literal-minded Biblical mindset. Regardless of artists' purposes, conservative evangelicals see (and will continue to see) any non-literal Biblical retelling as a threat to their faith, a threat to their children, and a blasphemy toward God and his Son, and the creator a willing, conscious participant in these demonic purposes.
I will talk about liberals tomorrow.
